Pink ice plant is a low and dense growing succulent, with a rambling habit, growing 10-12 in. high and spreading 24-30 in. across. Its pale blue-gray leaves are distinctly triangular in shape and have small pointed teeth on the margins. Pale rose colored flowers with yellow centers cover the plant in mid to late spring.

This is an interesting species that shows well in small spaces, rock gardens and in containers where there is an opportunity to see its unique foliage character and enjoy the flowers when in bloom. It is highly adapted to sun and heat, and can endure periods of summer moisture stress.

Water Needs

Pink ice plant is well adapted all parts of the Inland Empire in sunny exposures with normal winter rains and low amounts of summer irrigation. The chart shown below provides a recommended baseline guide to the monthly irrigation schedule and volume of supplemental water needed to maintain healthy growth throughout the average year. It should be noted there are several months indicated by an asterisk (*) when winter rains often provides sufficient moisture and irrigation is not needed. The high and low range of moisture indicates Pink ice plant can grow with varying amounts of water; little supplemental water is needed during summer following the flowering cycle.
