South African jasmine

Jasminum angulare

Description

The South African jasmine vine is a slow to moderate growing vining shrub from South Africa. When planted on slopes and against walls it can mound 8-10 ft. tall and spread 12-15 ft. wide. Grown as a vine, it can reach 15-20 ft. tall and fit residential scale spaces very well. Its dark green leaves are divided into 3 rounded leaflets; clusters of lightly fragrant white flowers cover the plant in spring.

This adaptable shrubby vine has refined foliage character and is useful in both residential and commercial landscapes for growing on trellises, walls and banks. It performs best in partial shade and warm locations with regular water. Like other species of jasmine, the fragrance of the flowers is very sweet and enjoyable.
